“Follow my system if you want to make 6 figures”. “My method will get you to 10k months FAST.” Aren’t you tired of hearing this? Doesn’t it feel like they are all scammers? You know the promises, see the sponsored posts with the smooth talking coaches and course providers.They make it sound so easy, don’t they? But is 10k really a figure that you have in mind for yourself, or did Instagram make you feel like you had to make that your goal? What success looks like for you is nobody’s business. Here is why you should stop chasing 10k Months or 6-figure incomes.
Stop chasing 10k months if it stresses you out
10k might be an average income for where you live or the industry you’re in. For others it is highly unlikely to ever get to that level. It may also not be needed for you to live comfortably where you are, and with a healthy work-life balance. Everyone’s situation is different, and you are not worth less if you make less. Remember that.
Whatever happened to ‘enough’?
Why should you feel anxious about making 10k a month or more? Just because some guru makes you feel like that? BS.
If success for you means paying the mortgage easily each month with your business income and being able to save 10%, then that is an amazing achievement. If your goal is to pay for all the groceries plus a weekly date night, and you succeed, then congrats!
Whatever happened to ‘enough’? Social media is rife with sponsored posts from business gurus and course providers who are trying to lure you into buying their high ticket programmes and courses. How do you think they make their money?
With promises and a lot of BS.
They sell to desperate people who are made to feel like they are not good enough, are not earning enough to call themselves ‘successful’ entrepreneurs. So they sign up. They get told to follow a ‘magic method’ or a ‘secret system’ to get more clients. Only to find that it’s not that simple.
It’s down to discipline and stamina
Sure, these systems work (and there is nothing magical or secret about them, by the way – I teach the same stuff), but ONLY if you have created a solid foundation, a clear vision and already have an audience. If you are starting from scratch or with little know-how on how to implement it, forget it, it is a waste of money.
And if they are self-guided online courses or free PDFs…Nope. You need more than that to get real results.
True learning happens when you start implementing the teachings, and this is where the problem lies. ACCOUNTABILITY. Personal guidance. Help from someone who understands your type of business, and can adapt to your pace and situation. Every business is different. Each person works differently. Creatives have a whole different way of working!
There is no magic wand or potion to suddenly skyrocket your income. It truly comes down to a realistic game plan, a solid strategy, a clear vision, and CONSISTENCY. Grit and discipline to keep going.
Growing a business takes time. Growing an audience takes time. Making a steady income from your own creative business TAKES TIME. If you don’t have the patience or discipline, it’s better to get a job. Entrepreneurship is not for everyone.
Back to the 10k Months dream
If we keep on comparing ourselves to others, all we get is frustrated and feeling like a failure. Don’t. Your situation is completely unique. And so is your income goal.
YOU decide what your income goal is.
Not some fancy business coach on a beach in Bali claiming they have figured it all out and are now dying to share their ‘secret’. Seriously.
And who says that they didn’t just fly out to record videos to launch their programme, just to make it look more attractive? Never believe all the shiny pictures you see coming past on your timeline. We all know that there is always another story behind the glittery images. Keep it real, please.
The main thing? Keep your eyes on YOUR ball, not on someone else’s. Stop comparing.
If 10k or 6 figures is a genuine goal, then, absolutely, GO FOR IT. It is all possible, with the right plan, vision and DISCIPLINE. But I prefer to focus on growing sustainable, manageable and achievable businesses first and foremost – and not hang a price tag on that.

Others are able to travel full-time by painting colourful murals across South America, on a much lower income, but living their own dream life.
For me personally, it means being able to contribute to my household financially, while having plenty of time to be there for my husband and children. Feeling rested, fulfilled and happy.
Success is 100% personal, private even. Whatever floats your boat. Nobody needs to tell you how much income is ‘successful’, and whether you are worthy and good enough as a business owner. YOU decide this.
