Four years ago, I bought this cool mug and a new notebook, and I it was the start of everything. I stumbled on an online group coaching programme, felt an inexplicable calling, emptied my savings, and booked. It changed my life. This post is my story about how I went from frustrated copywriter to being a happy business coach in six months.
I became a business coach in six months
2020 was a weird year of figuring out what to do next. During this Big Pause, like most of us, I felt strongly that I wanted to go in a new direction. The past few years I had been working as a freelance copywriter, but I was very bored of working for clients I didn’t feel aligned with. I was searching for something more meaningful but I didn’t know what.
The course I went on was aimed at helping you create a (semi)passive income by launching a group course or evergreen product. I was thinking of an eBook maybe, or a copywriting course.
However, as I went through the course, the word ‘coach’ fell. I had never thought of myself as a coach, and always thought this was something other people in other industries were doing. But as I kept digging deeper, and doing work on myself, it all fell into place.
I wanted to coach creatives and other people with big dreams but who had no idea how to manifest it.
In November 2020, The Creative Business Coach was born, and I became an actual business coach with paying clients in six months.
Setting the wheels in motion, committing to change
In a way, I had always been a coach throughout my career. The thing was, I had never seen myself as one. Yes, I had been a marketing consultant for both small businesses and larger organisations, mentoring and guiding them.
And I had always been the one in conversations with either friends or total strangers, to try and inspire and motivate them to follow their dreams. I am naturally looking for ways through, solutions, and doors to open. It had always lit me up to give people that gentle push to believe in themselves. The coach was already in me.
So was it that particular course that pushed me into this direction? To be honest, I think the call for transformation had already arrived in my aura, and it was inevitable that this would happen sooner or later. It happened to be that particular course that set the wheels in motion, but it was the fact that I committed to take action that made the magic.

Guidance and accountability
The course was my stick to transformation. Without the regular calls and the materials, I would never have been able to craft my business as fast as I did. Having that guidance and the accountability helped me going from a frustrated copywriter in October, to an actual business coach with a group programme and her first 1:1 client six months late
So today I want to celebrate how far I’ve come! I am grateful for all the course leaders, memberships I’ve been in, and 1:1 coaches who have mentored me over the past four years and given me the teachings I needed at particular times. Thank you.
