Do you ever feel like a fraud, waiting for someone to “find out” you’re not good enough? You’re not alone. Imposter syndrome is incredibly common among creative entrepreneurs.
The good news? You can overcome it and start showing up confidently in your business.
1. Recognise Your Achievements
Make a list of what you’ve accomplished – no matter how small. Remind yourself regularly that you have real skills, experience, and wins to offer. I often do an exercise with my clients called “Changing the Story“, in which we reframe our negative self-beliefs.
2. Reframe Your Thinking
Instead of thinking, “I’m not qualified enough,” try: “I’m learning and growing, and my clients value my perspective.” Your mindset shapes how you show up.
3. Share Your Story
Being authentic about your journey — struggles and all — helps clients connect with you. Vulnerability isn’t weakness; it’s a strength that builds trust.
4. Take Action Despite Fear
Confidence grows through action. Start small: post that article, offer that free session, or pitch that collaboration. Each step proves you’re capable and deserving.
Imposter syndrome as a creative won’t disappear overnight, and it will rear its ugly head again at times. It is a sign that you are working on yourself, and that you are growing. Your mind is only trying to keep you safe. With small, consistent actions, you can start feeling confident in your creative business, and will be able to ignore the annoying critical voice inside of your head.
